Sea Ranch Thespians Announce Auditions for Tiny Beautiful Things
The Sea Ranch Thespians are seeking performers for their spring 2027 production of Tiny Beautiful Things, with open auditions at 2:30pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Knipp-Stengel Barn.
Based on Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling book and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things is a deeply moving and often humorous exploration of love, loss, resilience, and the healing power of sharing our stories.
Director Lynne Atkins says the play “reminds us that even in our most difficult moments, honest human communication can be profoundly healing. It is a beautiful, funny, and compassionate piece of theater that stays with you.”
The production features an ensemble cast of two women and two men, ages 40 to 70. Rehearsals will begin in late March 2027, with performances scheduled for May 20–23 and May 27–30, 2027. Actors will read from selected scenes provided at the audition. Three of the cast members will play multiple roles created from the letters sent to advice columnist “Sugar” (the fourth actor) which results in a catharsis for her, the letter writers and ultimately the audience.
“We welcome both experienced and inexperienced actors, in addition those who may be returning to the stage after some time away, “ Atkins said. “If you’ve been looking for a meaningful theatrical experience, this is a wonderful opportunity.”
